Welcome New Families to St. Francis
We are now enrolling for the 2012-2013 school year. Enrollment packets may be picked up at the school or parish office. To schedule a tour with our Principal, Phyllis Daily, or have a enrollment packet mailed to you please contact us at 231-347-3651. We can also assist you with tuition rates and tuition assistance.
Current St. Francis Xavier Families
Watch your mail for the enrollment and financial support agreement forms which are due to the office by April 30th. Our school wide open house including Pre-K and Kindergarten Round Up will take place April 19th from 6-7pm.Tell your friends about our great school and take this opportunity to tour the classrooms and speak with staff. If you need financial assistance to help with next year’s tuition, please pick up an application at the SFX School Office or Parish Office.
CDC will be closed March 30th-April 9th
As the end of the school year is quickly approaching, it is time to plan for the 2012-2013 school year. We are now taking enrollment for Childcare, Pre-School, Latchkey, and our Infant Program. Call now (347-3860) as enrollment is filling up quickly.
VOLUNTEERS FOR TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
We are seeking volunteers to join a strategic planning technology committee. Please submit your name to the school office if you are able to assist with this committee. Thank you for your support.
ENTRANCE POLICY
With warm weather just around the corner we are reverting back to our morning entrance policy on April 10th, 2012. As a reminder children will wait outside their assigned doors until their teachers let them through the doors at 7:55am.
SPRING ATHLETIC BANQUET
On March 19th Mrs. Levitte hosted the St. Francis Annual Athletic Banquet. Elaina Tuck (8th)received the Sr. Hannah Johnecheck award for dedication to girls basketball. Evan Whitmore (8th)received the Fr. Wilbert Hegener Award for dedication to boys basketball. Allison Hoffman (6th) received the Eric Greyerbiehl Memorial Scholarship award- an award given for exemplary character, spirit and dedication to girls basketball. Allison received a $100.00 scholarship to attend a summer basketball camp.
ATHLETIC AWARDS CONTINUED
7th and 8th grade Team Volleyball awards- MVP Award is Libby Sylvain (8th). Most Improved Award is Joy Kiogima (7th).
Boys Basketball: 7th Grade Team MVP Award is Danny Kolp (6th). 7th Grade Team Most Improved Award is William Coveyou (6th). 8th Grade Team MVP Award is Evan Whitmore (8th). 8th Grade Team Most Improved Award is Max Scholl (7th).
Girls Basketball: 7th Grade Team MVP Award is Julia Doskoch (7th). 7th Grade Team Most Improved Award is Darby Walker (7th). 8th Grade Team MVP is Kylee Chojnacki (8th). 8th Grade Team Most Improved Award is Libby Sylvain (8th).
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC BEE
Congratulations to Jacob Kromm for qualifying for the State of Michigan National Geographic finals. He won our school Geography Bee on January 12th, then took a test and placed in the top 100 students in the State of Michigan. Jacob will be competing on March 30th, 2012 at the WMU Campus in Kalamazoo, MI. The State winner receives $100.00, a D.V.D. from National Geographic and a trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the National Finals. Good Luck Jacob!
“WHAT MAKES A GOOD PARENT”
Congratulations to the following 2nd and 3rd grade students for winning the “What makes a good parent” drawing and essay contest sponsored by the Child Abuse Council of Charlevoix and Emmet County: 2nd Grade-Claire Hoffman, Lauren McCarthy and Emma Nicholson. 3rd Grade- Sarah Elwell.
MCLEAN AND EAKIN SHORT STORY CONTEST
Congratulations to 3rd-5th Grade Division Winners: 3rd Place-Sarah Elwell (3rd) and 2nd Place- Kati Gunnell (5th) and 6th-8th Grade Division Winner: 1st Place-Mitchell Hoffman (8th) in the McLean and Eakin Short Story Contest.

“BLESS” YOUR CHILDREN OFF TO SCHOOL
Any Christian can perform a blessing that calls forth God’s goodness. All that’s required is a close relationship with God and the desire to transfer goodness. Why not send your child off to school in the morning with a pat on the head and a “bless you” or “God be with you” and bring grace to him or her all day.
GLENS CASH FOR CLASS
The school just received a check for $313.97 from the Glens Cash for Class program. Thanks to all those who participated to help our school.
BARAGA BROADCASTING 4th ANNUAL SPRING BENEFIT
You are invited to hear Dr. Ray Guarendi speak on the topic “Why be Catholic”. Dr. Ray, a humorous clinical psychologist who hosts the daily radio program “The Dr. is In,” on many EWTN radio affiliates, will be the keynote speaker at Baraga Broadcasting’s 4th annual Spring Benefit, to be held at Treetops Resort and Conference Center, in Gaylord, Friday, April 13, 2012. Baraga Broadcasting is your local Catholic Radio station. The evening starts with 6:30 social time, and a 7:00 dinner (combination plate of sirloin and whitefish). Cost is $50.00 per person.
