Dear St. Francis School Families:
You are invited to help “grow” a Spiritual Bouquet for the Holy Father from the Faithful of the Diocese of Gaylord. Bishop Hebda will then present our collective gift to Pope Benedict XVI while he is in Rome in February. A Spiritual Bouquet consists of prayers or devotional acts that the giver offers for the recipient. Our school will be participating in this and your child will have the opportunity to offer prayer and be counted in class. Additionally, you may also participate as an individual or family or as a member of your parish family. Suggestions include: Praying a Rosary or Chaplet of Divine Mercy or an Hour of Eucharistic Adoration or a day of fasting, etc. Log on to www.dioceseofgaylord.org for more detailed information and to sign up. Those who do not have access to the internet may also participate by leaving a message with their prayer commitment at 989-705-3502. Deadline to sign up is January 28th.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Please join us this Sunday, after the 8:00am and 10:00am masses for an all school coffee hour to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Catholic Schools Week begins Jan. 29th and a schedule of events for the week is attached to this newsletter.
AUCTION UPDATE
• Nine days until the Bedazzled by Winter Evening and Gala Auction Event!
• To date 703 Raffle Tickets have been sold! Please turn in your ticket stubs and money as soon as possible. All tickets must be accounted for.
• Great Live and Silent Auction items this year!
Dinner tickets are selling fast! Please make sure to get in your reservation as soon as possible and indicate on your response card if you have a guest seating preference. Table rounds of 8 preferred. We are anticipating another sold out event!
School families- please get in your sold raffle tickets for credit towards free tuition before 3:00pm on January 26th. We will no longer be issuing credit to families after this date and time as we will be preparing the ticket drawing for free tuition! This drawing will take place the night of the auction, Saturday, January 28th during the Gala dinner!
SPELLING BEE & GEOGRAPHY BEE
Our 2011-2012 4th-8th Grade Spelling Bee took place on Dec. 15th. Congratulations to our winners 1st place: Donny Molosky 2nd place: Sophie Waldvogel and 3rd place: Max Scholl. Our Geography Bee occurred Jan 12th, and the winners were as follows: 1st place: Jacob Kromm , 2nd place: William Coveyou and 3rd place:
Nicholas Spadafore . Congratulations!
ARELY FUND
Heidi Kendziorski would like to thank all those students who donated to the Arely Fund recently. Arely is a child from Mexico that we financially support as a school. We collected $270.60 so far this year. We need a total of $300.00 to continue to sponsor her so please continue to bring in your change.
LET’S STAY HEALTHY!
Our absence numbers are up lately and it reminds us of some practical advice to stay healthy. Remind your children of hand washing—the best way to keep bacteria away. Also, physicians in the area state that students who have been ill should stay home until they have a non-medicated temperature for 24 hrs or more. If your child is not well enough to be in their classroom, performing regular duties and participating with outdoor lunch recess, they should be home.
SKI NIGHTS AT NUBS NOB
(Grades 3-8)
Join other St. Francis students and families at the slopes of Nubs Nob each Wednesday night. Forms are in the main office. Please note the details on the form – All checks should be payable to Elizabeth Molosky and must be turned in the Friday prior the Wednesday night that you are skiing. If you do not show up on ski night, you forfeit your money. It is not transferable to the next week. Please call Liz Molosky with any questions (526-3917).
TOKENS FOR EDUCATION
Thanks to all those parish and school families that collected tokens this year. A total of 10 schools participated and collected from 11 businesses in the Petoskey/Harbor Springs region. St. Francis was the top school with 594 returned tokens.

GLENS CASH FOR CLASS
The Glens cash for class is now linked to your Glen’s Markets ‘yes’ card. Last years’ information has been
erased so you will need to reenter our school code again this year. If you already have an online account go to www.myyesrewards.com enter your e-mail address and password under “returning members’ and go to your “My Profile” page to link our group name. If you are a “Yes” member but don’t have an account; go to the website, click on ‘First-Time to Site’ and follow the steps to complete your on-line account registration. If you are not a member yet, go to the website and click “join yes” and fill out the on-line form. Our school code is 87817. Once you link your card-it will automatically calculate the rebate for our school.
