  Message from The Principal
The MANS site Accreditation Team is proweling around our campus, even as I write this, inspecting every aspect of St. Mary's School. Several people, knowing they are around have asked me if I am nervous about them being here or anxious about what they will say about St. Mary's. My answer, borne of three months of observation, conversation and immersion into the life of this school, is an unequivical "no". This is a solid school, based on sound values, taught by strong, dedicated teachers, and supported by a generous parish. Rather than being afraid, I am excited to see what recommendations they offer to make this school even stronger.
The teachers and I, Fathers Bill and Len, the St. Mary's School Board, and the ancillary groups that help run our programs, will have some work ahead of us. Accreditation teams are so thorough that no school ever gets away without some recommendations for improvement. I look forward to seeing where this diverse group of educators, the people that make up the site team, recommends we make improvements. The teaching staff has already laid the groundwork for cooperative teaching via the Professional Learning Communities' concept, so we will attack the recommendaions through that same process.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Parent's Club for the hospitality they have shown our guests. Mrs. Daugherty and Mrs. Dinnewith cooked and served lunch on Thursday and an untold number of moms and dads sent in cookies, cakes, pastries, brownies, and other treats to supplement our lunch offerings for the two days. We are blessed at St. Mary's with the outpouring of support we receive from our parents. God Bless you for your work on the behalf, ultimately, of our students.
Finally, what does an 8th grade student have in common with a 1st grade student? Normally your answer would probably be, well, "Nothing". However, Thursday, November 13, the 8th graders sat amongst their classmates in the lower grades and eat lunch with them. During the course of the lunch, the 8th graders shared their experiences and listened to those of the younger kids. Mrs. Carlson did a great job of getting balloons set on tables and organizing her class to take a leadereship role on this "Mix-It-Up Day". It was another example of what solid students we have at our school.
